I love experiencing the Summer Solstice Sunrise from Lugnaquilla every year. An experience which will stay forever. Where most people are focussed on a similar experience in Newgrange or other Celtic locations, I find that as someone who love the outdoor, experiencing the Summer Solstice from Lugnaquilla or from any other summit in Ireland is something magical.
As part of this amazing experience, we introduce another experience…wild camping.
Wild camping and sleeping in the wilderness of the Irish Mountains brings another dimension to hiking this event.
A tent from 1 up to 3 people can be provided together with a stove and some cooking equipment.
We meet at 15h30 on the 19th of June. (location to be confirmed)
The hike is 1h30 to our camping location.
We pitch the tents at 18h30
Get up at 2h45
Start hiking at 3h15
Arrive at Lugnaquilla at 4h45
Sunrise at 4h50
All along the journey, you’ll experience all the colours of the sky, the Irish sea, the light house off the coast of Wales and the reflection of the rising sun on the Irish sea (weather permitting it nonetheless , I renew the experience every year.
Experience the Summer Solstice from Lugnaquilla.
